Why we bake

After my coeliac diagnosis, the thing I missed most was bread. Real, crusty, tear-into-it bread. So Alexander and I set out to bake the gluten-free loaf I actually wanted to eat, the slow way, by hand.

From our starter to your door

How we bake your bread

Real sourdough, the slow way, made by hand in our South London bakery. 100% gluten free, free from the 14 major allergens and plant-based. No ultra-processed shortcuts.

  1. Our starter

Every bake begins with our own gluten-free sourdough starter, looked after in the bakery.

  2. Mixed by hand

Naturally gluten-free flours like brown rice, sorghum and millet, with water, salt and our starter. No gluten, no shortcuts.

  3. Slow-fermented

The dough is left to ferment for hours. That's where the tang, the depth and the open crumb come from.

  4. Baked to order

We only bake what's been ordered, so your bread comes out of the oven for you, not off a warehouse shelf.

  5. To your door

Packed straight after baking and sent on a next-day delivery service. We aim to have it with you within 5 working days of placing your order. Anything left over becomes breadcrumbs or goes to our local food bank.

Garlic & Nigella Seed Bagels

Just tried the Garlic and Nigella Seed Bagels (purchased from Whole Foods in Central London) and they are amazing. I secretly ate 2 in one sitting ha. They are so good that you could even eat them cold and plain, but it definitely tastes better warm/toasted. They taste just like normal bagels and it makes me feel better that they are made with brown rice flour for more fibre. Would be great if a better sugar was used though.

AMAZING

These are the best gluten free bagels I have come across, they are HUGE and actually go crusty when toasted instead of being like cardboard! 10000000% recommend.

The best sourdough

I didn’t realise that gluten free sourdough could taste so good, or any type of gluten free bread. This has raised my expectations of all gluten free products! The nigella seed and garlic bagel are the best, the taste is incredible and the smell when they are under the grill is divine. Even though I am the only one in my home that is gluten free, we have stopped buying gluten bread and just use the breads from here. I would highly recommend to all, it is worth every penny

Must try these!

Was fed up of eating ‘cake-like’ GF bread from the supermarket that was full of rubbish (a huge list). Was so excited to have my lunch today to give them a go and I was not disappointed. Absolutely delicious and worth every penny!!

Delicious surprise

Received these bagels yesterday as part of my first order. I’ve been gluten free (by necessity not choice) for 22 years and have tried commercially made bagels lacking in substance and tasting of nothing. The smell, flavour and consistency of the nigella seed and garlic bagels was a wonderful surprise. Stupidly I gave my husband a taste and he now wants me to buy these for him as well. Can’t wait to try the rest of the order!

Honestly the very best gluten free products I've ever tasted in my life! I got these, the cinnamon and raison bagels, and the Italian rolls. They're all absolutely amazing and I'll be spreading the joy with my fellow GF family and friends immediately! Thank you, thank you.

Best Bagels and service

We have really been enjoying the bagels from GFB and are thankful to have found a place that make gluten from Bagels that taste good and have great texture. The garlic and nigella were recommended by one of the staff as his favourites and we are now hooked! Thanks!

Love

I have ordered another order and still have 1 bagel left. Is it possible to fall in love with a bagel? Well, I do not love anyone enough to give them a share! The totally seeded sourdough loaf is equally as satisfying in taste and texture. Gluten free heaven.
