The Loaf Society - Membership Terms & Conditions
Welcome to The Loaf Society. These terms explain how membership works — what you get, what we ask of you, and the small print that keeps everything fair. We've written them in plain English because that's how we talk. Please read them before you join; by signing up to any tier you're agreeing to them.
1. Who we are
The Loaf Society is run by My Gluten Free Bakery Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales ("we", "us", "the bakery"). If you need us, email support@mygfbakery.com — we read everything.
These terms cover the membership programme only. Buying bread from us is covered by our separate website Terms of Service and Terms of Supply, and how we handle your data is covered by our Privacy Policy.
2. The tiers
Membership comes in three tiers. First Slice is free. On the Rise and Artisan Reserve are paid memberships, billed annually or monthly.

3. Joining
- You must be 18 or over and have an account with us to hold a paid membership.
- One membership per person, covering one account.
- Membership is personal to you, it can't be sold, transferred, or shared beyond the household allowance above.
- We may decline or cancel a membership where these terms are broken (see section 12).
4. Payment and renewal
- Paid memberships renew automatically — annually or monthly, depending on the plan you chose — using your saved payment method. We'll email you before each annual renewal.
- If a payment fails, we'll retry and let you know. If we can't collect payment within 14 days, your membership drops to the free First Slice tier until it's resolved. Your points balance is kept safe in the meantime.
- We may change membership prices. Price changes never apply mid-term: we'll give you at least 30 days' notice before your renewal, and you're free to cancel before the new price takes effect.
5. Cancelling and refunds
Your 14-day cooling-off period. If you change your mind within 14 days of first buying (or upgrading) a paid membership, tell us and we'll refund you in full — minus the fair value of any member benefits you've already used (for example, a redeemed gift, a member-rate discount, or free delivery you wouldn't otherwise have received). This is your legal right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and we honour it gladly.
After 14 days — annual plans. You can cancel anytime, and your membership (and all benefits) will continue until the end of your paid year. We don't offer pro-rata refunds on annual memberships after the cooling-off period.
Minimum term. All paid memberships have a minimum term of 3 months, starting on the day you join. On monthly plans, this means your first three monthly payments are committed — if you cancel during the minimum term, your membership and billing continue until the end of month 3, then stop. Annual plans already run beyond the minimum term, so nothing changes there. Your 14-day cooling-off right (above) is not affected by the minimum term.
After 14 days — monthly plans. You can cancel anytime after your minimum term, and your membership runs until the end of the current billing month. No further payments will be taken.
Pausing instead. Paid members can pause their membership rather than cancel — your benefits pause with it, your points and founding status stay intact. Details of pause options are in the members' hub.
What happens to your points. If your paid membership ends or lapses, your account moves to the free First Slice tier and your points remain, subject to the normal expiry rules in section 8.
6. Earning points
- You earn points on every order: 1 point per £1 spent on First Slice, 2 points on On the Rise, and 3 points on Artisan Reserve.
- Points are calculated on the order value after discounts (subscription discount, promo codes) and excluding delivery charges.
- If an order is refunded or cancelled, the points earned on it are reversed automatically.
- Bonus points are available for engagement actions (creating an account, newsletter signup, social follows, reviews, referrals, birthdays and anniversaries, and more). One-off actions earn once per member, ever; recurring bonuses (like birthdays) earn once per calendar year; some actions are capped — the current actions, values, and caps are published in the members' hub and may be updated from time to time.
- Referral points are credited when your friend completes their first qualifying order. Referrals must be real people making genuine purchases — self-referrals and referral farming will be reversed.
7. Redeeming points — the gift ladder
Points redeem for free bakery gifts. As a guide, 100 points is worth roughly £1 of gift value. The current gift ladder — from everyday bakes to curated boxes and bakery experiences — is published in the members' hub.
- You need a minimum balance of 500 points before your first redemption.
- To redeem, add a gift to your basket from the loyalty hub. Your gift ships with that order at no extra delivery cost.
- One gift per order — gifts can't be stacked.
- Gifts are available subject to bakery stock.
- Points can't be combined with site-wide promotional codes on the same order — choose whichever is better for you.
- Points have no cash value, can't be exchanged for money, and can't be transferred between accounts or sold.
8. Points expiry
- Points expire 12 months after your last earning activity. Any new earn — a purchase or a bonus action — resets the clock on your whole balance. Stay active and you'll never lose a point.
- Redemption coupons, once issued, are valid for 90 days.
- We'll email you before points are due to expire.
9. Delivery benefits
- First Slice: free standard delivery on orders of £35 or more; standard delivery charges apply below that.
- On the Rise: free standard delivery on up to 4 orders in your birthday month and on any order of £35 or more; all other orders are delivered at a flat £2.50.
- Artisan Reserve: free standard delivery in your birthday month and on any order of £35 or more; all other orders are delivered at a flat £1.99.
Free delivery covers standard delivery to mainland UK addresses. Premium, timed, or non-mainland delivery upgrades are charged at the difference.
10. Subscription discount
Your tier discount (5% First Slice, 8% On the Rise, 10% Artisan Reserve) applies automatically to every order placed on a recurring subscription. It doesn't apply to one-off orders, gift purchases, or event tickets, and it can't be combined with other promotional codes on the same order.
11. The community, sessions, and events
- Paid members get access to our private members' community. Be kind, be constructive, and respect other members — we may remove content or suspend community access for behaviour that harms the community, without affecting the rest of your membership.
- Anything you post remains yours, but you give us permission to feature member posts (with credit) in the community and our marketing. Ask us and we'll take anything down.
- Nutritional therapist Q&As and columns are general wellbeing information, not medical advice. Always consult your GP or specialist about medical conditions, including coeliac disease, IBS, or Crohn's — our content never replaces that.
- Live sessions and in-person events run subject to availability and may be rescheduled. In-person events are ticketed (Artisan Reserve members get priority access); if we cancel an event you've paid to attend, we'll refund your ticket or offer an alternative date.
- Our nutrition content, columns, and Q&As are provided by Catherine Arnold (BANT and CNHC registered), an independent practitioner who works with us under a services agreement — she is not our employee. She practises within the scope of her professional qualifications and registrations and maintains her own professional indemnity insurance. Responsibility for the nutritional guidance she provides rests with her, and we are not liable for claims arising from that guidance. Nothing in this clause affects your statutory rights.
12. Fair use
The programme is designed to reward genuine customers generously. We may reverse points, withhold gifts, or suspend or cancel a membership (with a refund of the unused portion of any paid term where we cancel other than for abuse) where we reasonably believe there has been fraud, abuse, gaming of the points programme, resale of member benefits, or misuse of the community. We'll always tell you why and give you a chance to put it right where that's reasonable.
13. Changes to the programme
- We'll keep improving the programme, which means benefits, gift options, earning actions, and point values will evolve. Minor changes (like rotating gifts or adding benefits) can happen at any time.
- If we make a material change that reduces the core value of a paid membership mid-term — for example, cutting earn rates or removing a headline benefit — we'll give you at least 30 days' notice, and you may cancel and receive a pro-rata refund of your remaining paid term.
- If we ever close the programme, we'll give at least 90 days' notice so you can redeem your points.
14. The legal bits
- Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
- We're not liable for losses that aren't a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms, and nothing limits our liability where the law says it can't be limited (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence).
- Allergens: our products are gluten-free and produced in a dedicated gluten-free bakery, but always check the product information for other allergens before eating.
- These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes can be brought in the courts of England and Wales (or your local courts if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland).
- If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
