Hello, and welcome to Rana*s Bakery!

We make amazing Artisan Sourdough Gluten Free bread mixes and baked bread. Our mixes produce a range of sourdough breads, crackers and pizza bases that taste as good as gluten containing bread, if not better!! Not only that but they are incredibly easy to make at home, just add water, mix, bake and enjoy!!

Our bread is for everyone, not just Coeliacs or people who suffer from allergies and intolerances. It tastes so delicious (“real bread” delicious), and is healthy.  Our usual compliment is “It’s so scrummy, I didn’t realise the bread was gluten free!”  Our blend of flour creates crusty, delicious bread with rich flavour, but don’t take our word for it, try it and we are sure you will agree.

My story

My name is Rana and in 2012 I was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease. Before my diagnosis, I suffered from the usual symptoms; tiredness, bloated stomach, digestion problems, foggy brain and irritability to name a few. For years it seemed normal to feel sluggish and tired, until finally I was diagnosed with the disease by my GP and Gastroenterologist. I was relieved to understand what was wrong with me, so to help adapt to my new gluten free diet, I set on a mission to find great tasting gluten free food. I tried everything! The one thing I couldn’t find anywhere was delicious crusty bread, and it was the thing I missed the most. I knew the problem, and needed to find a solution.

That’s where our good friend Charles comes in. Having been coeliac since 2002, he had also been looking for the solution to tasty gluten free bread. His wonderful creations have been the basis of our bread and mixes, and we are so thankful to Charles for not giving up on the seemingly impossible task! We joke that he’s the Heisenberg of gluten free bread.

Why Gluten Free?

Well if you’re coeliac, you should follow a strict gluten free diet as advised by your doctor. However, a lot of very smart people are researching the side effects of gluten, and many believe it’s detrimental to all of us.

We still have a lot to learn about non-coeliac gluten sensitivity. Many irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) sufferers also find a gluten free diet helps relieve them of their symptoms. 

There are even studies on the effects of gluten on a wide range of diseases, not just those with digestive problems. If you have any concerns about your health, please do speak to your GP!

The team

Rana*s team consists of two individuals, Rana and Alexander, who came together for a love of good food that can be enjoyed by anyone and everyone.

Rana, our Managing Director, has always had a passion for food and entertaining. Since being diagnosed with coeliac disease several years ago she bacame frustrated at the lack of places offering gluten free artisan bread. Rana*s Artisan Bread is the culmination of two years of research, planning, dreaming, questioning, testing recipes and spending time in places where she can’t eat! 

Alexander, our Operations Director, is a lifelong food and drink lover. When he's not making sure our delicious bread mixes arrive at your door promptly and efficiently, he enjoys spending time with his three adorable children.
